Adam
Perez, New Assistant Camp Director.
Adam was a camper, LIT (Leader In Training) and staff
member at House In The Wood. He and his wife Millie
celebrated their marriage at camp. He will be joining
our staff full time on February 1, 2006. Adam will be
the camp staff member that will be signing up at campers
for this summer. Welcome!
Toni Michelle Davison, Assistant Camp Director
resigns. Toni has resigned from House In The
Wood after spending two summers at camp. She will be
missed by many parents who have come to know House In
The Wood through Toni at camp registration. She was
responsible for a number of innovative program changes
during the summer. Toni resigns effective January 4. We
wish her the best of luck in her future.
Two New Camp Kittens will join House
In The Wood this summer at the camp office.
Click
here for pictures of the new kitties and Charlie, our
camp cat.
Charlie the camp cat dies. Charlie our
20 year old grand old girl died on December 6 of renal
failure. She spent every summer at camp in the office or
chasing the chipmunks. Her ashes will be buried at camp
next to the other camp animals--Sunshine the bunny and
Albert the ferret.
Peaches the camp bunny dies. Peaches
was out 7 year old bunny who started her life at camp
after we bought her from the farmer near camp. She spent
the summers at House In The Wood and the school year at
a Montessori school in Chicago. She had a memorial
service at the school where she was a well-loved bunny.

Toni
Davison joined our year around camp staff in March.
She jumped right into registering and recruiting summer
campers. Toni comes to us from Perlstein Resort in
Wisconsin Dells, WI. She has attended camp most of her
life and most recently has worked at Camp Chi as a Unit
Director. Welcome to Toni.
Facility
Donation. We received a facility donation
"out-of-the-blue". We welcomed the opportunity
to put roofs on 9 buildings, add stairs to Vittum Lodge,
paint Hickory House, and repair various doors and screens.

Mid
States Presentation. Val Wright, Camp Director will be
presenting at the Mid States Camping Conference in mid
April on the topic of "How to Effectively Communicate
with your Staff Pre-Camp".
Birdie
Brown.
After working at House In The Wood for 16 years in a
variety of positions, Ms Birdie has elected not to
continue as the Assistant Camp Director where she
supervised our summer program and camper recruitment. She was a great addition to
our camp staff and we will miss her dedication to the
campers and staff during the summer. We wish her well with
her future plans.
New
Parent Information Web Pages
will be uploaded in late January. Pages will include
registration procedures, staff introductions, what to pack, and many other bits
of useful information for the parent and camper coming to
House In The Wood.
Pat
Jaszka retires. Pat Jaszka
has been signing up children and their families to go to
camp for as long as I've been working at camp--20
years--and probably before that too. She will be retiring
in May so make sure that you stop in and wish her the best
of luck. She will be training another person to take over
the important job of registering our summer campers. Many of you
may not know that she was also our Camp Angel. She
constantly thinks about what camp needs and would save us
choice tidbits from the donations coming into the
Settlement. She is responsible for everything from
furniture to blankets and toys to snacks that we have had
at camp throughout the last 20 years.
